DRASH Portable Shelters Are Used for Military Missions

DRASH shelterThe Deployable Rapid Assembly Shelter (DRASH) is used by the military and can be set up quickly. The system integrates shelter, mobility, lighting, heating, cooling, and power distribution.

DRASH shelters have been used for military training and combat operations for over 25 years. They are considered to be the most proven, tested, and trusted infrastructure used by the military today.

DRASH has six series of portable shelters and 52 models of varying lengths and widths. Single models range in size from 109 to 1,250 square feet. The shelters can also be interconnected for joint operations. DRASH offers a series of specialty shelters, including entry control points, mobile hygiene systems, and arctic tents.

The basic design of the shelters consists of a frame with two pre-attached covers and an integrated floor. Setting up the shelters does not require the use of special tools or loose parts.

The frame of the shelters consists of pairs of struts that connect at key points called hubs that allow the shelters to be pushed up and out. The shelters can be set up or taken down quickly without any locking devices. The frame is made of Titanite, an aerospace composite that is 270 percent stronger than aluminum for the same diameter and cross-sectional area.

The double layer of fabric provides a naturally temperature-controlled environment. The XYTEX specially coated fabric is fire retardant, mildew resistant, water repellent, and resistant to abrasion and UV rays. XYTEX 500 coating provides protection against microbes. Cover fabrics include blackout in the visual and near infrared spectrum. They also meet Mil-Standard requirements for soft-walled shelters. DRASH shelters meet or exceed all requirements for rain, wind, temperature, durability, blackout, and snowload.

DRASH shelters are integrated with Utility Shelter Transport trailers to create integrated support systems that provide mobility, power, and/or environmental control. The shelters can also be equipped with support products and accessories, including power distribution unit boxes, fluorescent lighting systems, wiring packages, and portable heating systems. Deployable Command and Control Equipment, or DC2E, provides the military with lightweight, portable communications technology that fuses multiple information feeds on single or multiple displays.
